Beware of the Bear 🐻.

Beware of the Bear is the brainchild of multi-award winning UK saxophonist Phil Meadows. Recognised as one of the most distinctive, creative and talented musicians in Europe; his music is inspired by global sounds combining jazz elements with classical, hip-hop, electronica, contemporary music and more. With the world divided Beware of the Bear highlight the importance of peace between people, respect for each other and brings you a performance of unity and positivity, highlighting important issues whilst celebrating the beauty of human kind.

The band name pays tribute to the great Brown Bear, an animal often featured in children’s tales as a friend and companion but in reality a deadly beast of nature with a killer instinct. Beware of the Bear draw direct comparison to key public and political figures, stating that; not everybody who's warm and cuddly are the way they appear to be!

Beware of the Bear have already toured the UK twice under the Phil Meadows Project name. However, since these dates the band have been working closely with electronic artist Nick Tyson (Gentleman's Dub Club/XOA) and producer Mikko Gordon (Thom Yorke/Matthew Herbert), creating a palette of soundscapes and synths to interact with them on stage. The line-up of the band showcases an important wave of British talent uniting four musicians born out of London’s creative South-East London scene. As the gig takes flight you’ll be transported through Meadows’ stories by soaring melodies, atmospheric soundscapes and head-nodding grooves with the bands new sound tipping influence towards GoGo Penguin, Portico Quartet, Donny McCaslin, Bill Laurance and more.

Live Band: Phil Meadows - Sax/electronics // Michael De Souza - Guitar // Joe Downard - Bass // Jay Davis - Drums.
