Andrew Hugill’s online orchestration website is a comprehensive resource for all aspiring and developing orchestrators and arrangers. It has sections outlining the capabilities of each instrument and videos that demonstrate techniques, textures and approaches. Furthermore, there’s a library of orchestral textures, so you can hear what various instrument groupings sound like together whilst writing from home. If you don’t have access to an orchestra, this is a great place to start!
